Driven by the quest to conquer the world’s most challenging diseases, ABL provides contract development and manufacturing (CDMO) services to biotech and biopharmaceutical companies. Combining translational science with operational excellence, ABL delivers viral vector development and manufacturing services in order to enable clients to bring numerous life-saving vaccines and therapies into the world.

As one of the world’s leading contract manufacturing organizations and service providers, ABL helps clients evaluate the safety and efficacy of biologics in their clinical programs. With over 25 years of viral vector development and GMP production experience, ABL’s core focus is on accelerating novel gene therapies, vaccines, oncolytics, and immunotherapies. The company provides a wide array of services, covering everything from process development, analytical development, GMP manufacturing, quality control testing, and regulatory support for virus products.

Patrick Mahieux, General Manager of ABL Europe, says, “We are a one-stop shop, delivering all services under one roof, which makes it convenient for the client to oversee the entire process and accelerate the development of innovative therapies and vaccines.”

As a viral vector manufacturing specialist, ABL leverages adherent and suspension platforms to develop and manufacture virus-based biologics. In terms of adherent processes, ABL produces viral vectors using stack cells, cell factories, HYPERstack, and roller bottle technologies.

In addition, ABL even uses iCELLis bioreactors for excellent cell growth conditions for adherent cells. Alternatively, the organization can produce viral vectors using single-use bioreactors with micro-carriers.

With suspension processes, ABL can manufacture a myriad of viral vectors for its clients, including Adenovirus, AAV, Lentivirus, and VSV. The organization utilizes single use technology for virus manufacturing, saving clients significant time and money on cleaning and sanitization. ABL also delivers aseptic drug fill/finish services for up to 10,000 vials.

Driving excellence at the core, experts at ABL ensure that the analytical method used for virus development offers maximum efficiency. The organization’s viral vector specialists guarantee that the manufacturing of the viral vectors is compliant throughout the process.

With utmost flexibility, ABL is primed to support clients in their projects, even on the tightest schedules, adapting swiftly to their needs. The team at ABL goes above and beyond to complete a critical part of the customer’s project, even working round the clock when needed.

ABL’s flexibility and commitment to on-time delivery proved highly beneficial to a client that wanted to start a clinical trial in a short time frame. ABL was able to conduct analytical development of the trial, create the process design, manufacture the virus banks, and produce the first batch of viral vectors all within just 12 months.

We are a one-stop-shop, delivering all services under one roof, which makes it convenient for the client to oversee the entire process and accelerate the development of innovative therapies and vaccines

ABL’s high competency in delivering such superior and flexible services stems from its team’s extensive viral vector development and GMP manufacturing knowledge. They can seamlessly switch from working on the development side to GMP manufacturing as per a project’s priority, saving a lot of time. While starting a clinical trial/bio manufacturing process with a client, ABL first allocates a project manager and then builds a team dedicated to the client’s needs. The team then provides the customers with valuable advice throughout their preclinical and clinical programs.

Primarily focused on supporting clinical trials, ABL aspires to go beyond and provide biomanufacturing services to its clients on a large scale. To this end, ABL is looking to open new manufacturing sites and make strategic acquisitions, gearing up to provide viral vector development and immunology services for clients worldwide.
