The journey of Lamda Laboratories can be traced back to over two decades ago—the company is the natural continuation of Lamda legal entities initially established in 1996. The same year, Lamda Pharmaceuticals SA was established as a registration/ regulatory services company, offering its services to other Greek companies. By 2000, Lamda evolved into a Contract Development Organisation offering its services to European companies. Fast forward to 2011, Lamda Laboratories SA was established, providing in-house, cutting-edge formulation and analytical capabilities. Continuing this expansion streak, Lamda UK was established in 2012 as a legal entity to take advantage of the UK R&D legal framework. Following this, Lamda consolidated its operations in the Koropi facility.Internal restructuring made Lamda Laboratories the primary active entity. As Quantum Pharma Plc. acquired all three Lamda legal entities in 2015, Lamda became the Group’s R&D provider for implementing its UL2L strategy. Two years hence, Clinigen Group Plc. acquired Quantum Pharma Plc, and Lamda’s operational scope expanded further. In 2020, Lamda concluded its preparations for FDA inspection and began US market-targeted developments. Finally, in September 2020, Lamda’s work on building highly potent and lyophilised development capability was approved.

Lamda continuously adds to its capabilities and has recently concluded a quality system upgrade to add FDA development capability. The company utilises Quality by Design methodology in its developments, ensuring product robustness, smooth approval and launch activities.

Illustrating Lamda’s capabilities, Dr Karatzas recalls, “Our Group identified a gap in Europe for registered medicinal product (not food supplement) melatonin formulations.” Lamda developed a range of products (tablets, capsules and oral solutions) to effectively cover the identified market needs. In another instance, a client identified a need for a novel presentation of an injectable antibiotic covered by a formulation patent. Lamda developed and registered a non-infringing formula permitting the successful launch of the product.
