OCS-02 is a TNF alpha (tumor necrosis factor) inhibitor. TNF alpha is a known biological target in ocular inflammation, with anti-inflammation and anti-necrosis properties. The OCS-02 drug is based on a patented single-chain antibody fragment technology that was developed specifically for topical delivery. OCS-02’s efficacy and safety were assessed in three clinical trials, including two IND-approved controlled studies. Dry Eye Disease and Non-Infectious Anterior Uveitis were among the ocular inflammatory disorders of the anterior segment of the eye studied, and the studies revealed a promising profile for treating them.
“The Heidelberg team is excited to advance the process and analytics for this molecule to the next phase and is looking forward to a close collaboration with the Oculis team,” says AGC Biologics General Manager, Heidelberg, Dieter Kramer.
The Heidelberg facility of AGC Biologics has over 20 years of experience in supplying a wide variety of microbial programs. In addition, as part of AGC’s end-to-end Cell and Gene Therapy offering, the site is a Center of Excellence for Plasmid DNA (pDNA) processing.
