Fibre-based bottle with plant-based coating revealed by RyPax and CelluComp

RyPax and CelluComp have unveiled what is said to be the first all-fibre bottle solution with a biodegradable and plant-based inner coating and hope to ‘crack the code’ on paper-based bottle packaging.

CelluComp has introduced Curran, a microfibrillated cellulose product derived from discarded root vegetables, into an innovative pulp mixture that also includes bamboo and bagasse. This combination has reportedly yielded a robust material with minimal porosity. The resulting pulp is utilized as a thin lining inside bottles, serving as an alternative to plastic liners.

The recent validation of the all-fibre bottle design by the Danish Technological Institute (DTI) marks a significant development. This advancement is expected to have positive implications for various industries such as beverages, beauty, healthcare, medicine, food, and retail. The innovation holds the potential to reduce waste while aligning with the sustainability goals of consumers, governments, and internal initiatives.

RyPax and CelluComp Collaborate to Launch All-Fiber Bottle

Two entrepreneurial leaders in the fiber packaging industry have joined forces to introduce an innovative all-fiber bottle solution, featuring an interior coating that provides a biodegradable and renewable alternative for one of the most commonly used packaging formats globally.
